In the Marshal’s Bootprints – a walking tour

The stone building for the Mikkeli Coeducational School was completed in 1909 according to the design of Finland’s first independent female architect Wivi Lönn. During the Winter War the school housed the Headquarters’ control department and an inspector of economic management. 

In the first months of the Continuation War the HQ’s information department was located in the building. Later on during the war it also accommodated units of the logistics and intelligence sections as well as the artillery department and the commander of the artillery.
