In the Marshal’s Bootprints – a walking tour

The hotel and commercial building designed by architect Arthur E. Elg and owned by the Osuuskauppa Suur-Savo co-operative retail society was completed in 1940 during the interim peace. During the Continuation War the whole hotel was used by the Headquarters as accommodation and dining rooms for the generals and colonels. The Commander-in-Chief had his meals in the same building at the Mikkelin Klubi Club. The meals for the club were prepared by the Kaleva Hotel’s kitchen.
