A large-scale introduction into the life's work of C.G.E. Mannerheim (1867-1951). Organized in collaboration by the Hermitage Museum, the Finnish Institute in St. Petersburg and Finnish and Russian experts.

Works by the 9th grade pupils of the Mikkelin lyseon koulu school on "Man and Architecture". They have interpreted periods of interesting art history through human sculptures. The project was led by artist Marja-Riitta Siimala.

The exhibition is a continuation of collaboration between the Arts Council of South Savo and the Czech Republic Ministry of Culture. The Local? Global? exhibition in Prague in spring 2005 showed art by pictorial artists from South Savo Province. The Czech artists chosen to the ‘Czech version’ are Veronica Bromova, Kristof Kintera, Petr Pisarik,Vladimir Skrepl and Adam Vackar. The curator of both exhibitions is Monika Burian, Vernon Fine Art.

The Grimm brothers’ jubilee exhibition is the result of collaboration between Outi Mietala, Toini Sepponen and Art Centre for Children and Young People, Hyvinkää.
21.2. - 9.4. Animations by children
First to third grade pupils of schools in the South Savo region have taken part in animation workshops organised by the Arts Council of South Savo and the Mikkeli Art Museum since 2003. Altogether eighteen animated films have been completed.

Virtanen
Ritva-Liisa Virtanen from Savonranta has been an artist for the last thirty years. She started out as a graphic artist and moved on to installations and mixed techniques. The exhibition shows some of her most recent works.

A half-retrospective look at this internationally famous redefiner of the art of painting complemented by recent works created especially for the museum space.

Works by the two important members of the Tuusulanjärvi artist colony, now in Mikkeli for the first time. The art comes from the collections of the Järvenpää Art Museum.

Works by Martta Wendelin themed around her most beloved subject matter: the idyllic Finnish home with all its virtues, summery lakescapes, winter roads to church, children and fairytale illustrations.
