The Headquarters Museum Notice

The Headquarters Museum, refurbished in 2000-2001, was opened to the public on 4.6.2001. The renovation work done according to plans by the firm of architects Lasse Kosunen Oy gave the museum rooms back their wartime appearance. Now that the wartime world has been revealed in colour the visitor´s earlier perception of the museum based solely on black-and-white photographs, gains a completely new dimension. Colour samples found by building conservators were used to recreate the colour scheme of the war years.

The new museum rooms and exhibition not only tell the story of operations at the Headquarters but also use state-of-the-art technology to illustrate important wartime events.

The Headquarters Museum has developed a product line of its own availabe to visitors to the museum. The products include a board-game called "In the Marshal´s Bootsteps", HQ coffee and members of a product family designed by graphic artist Kari Piippo.

The museum has collected reminiscences and photographs connected with the Headquarters and has now a set of a thousand photographs and prints from private collections. The Headquarters Museum is still interested in picture material and recorded memories of life at the HQ.
